Hi everyone! Well I hope your internships are going well! I just started my internship this past Tuesday after our lovely 3 day weekend. I had gone in on Friday Jan. 16th to meet everyone and fill out my paper work, first impressions count and everyone seemed so nice. James my supervisor and I set up my schedule as to when my hours are and how I will work there until May 8th! I also found out right before walking into the meeting that I have received an internship with the Oakland A's during spring training! James and I worked it out that I will not take a spring break in order to take off one day a week for the month of March to work a game during the week and I will work the weekend games with the A's. I am very excited for this opportunity as well. what a great day Jan. 16th was!
With the warm welcome I received on Friday I wasn't very nervous to start on Tuesday. Once again everyone was very welcoming and seemed excited for me to be there. We immediately went into meetings, sales team meeting and the office meeting. This helped me understand where everyone was on projects for the week. Over the course of the week I have been learning the different programs the office uses, such as D3000 for our leads, bookings, and general client information. I had the opportunity to assist our Sports Sales Manager with a sales Proposal for a very large golf tournament. This was a chance to show off my Publisher and PowerPoint skills! Things are starting to get busy in the office as more "snowbirds" arrive into Mesa. I am learning the layout of the front area so that I am able to assist anyone with information regarding local attractions. I also am very lucky to know a few people in the office already such as the PR intern who is from the PR program of the Journalism school, along with Leigh who works for the Chamber of Commerce. I am excited to see where this program goes and although it is tough getting up at 6:30 everyday, I don't mind so far because I am enjoying everything!
